Briefing: Human Illness and E. coli O157:H7  (.pdf)

Epidemiological studies have indicated that fewer than 40 cells can cause illness in some people. This brief summarizes historical and epidemiological data on outbreaks of human illness caused by E. coli O157:H7 and current surveillance strategies, regulations and industry initiatives.
